I do not understand people who think that apartments in this area is a good thing. It is only going to bring down our property values. It is only going to add to the overcrowding at the schools. Now it seems we have 2 different sets of apartments going in and I bet it won't stop there.

Nope it wont, but crying about it wont help either. Go to zoning meetings, talk to our councilman, I'm not up on what all you can do, but this isnt helping that is for sure.
I hate apartments as much as the next person. Keller doesnt have many apartments, infact I can only think of one complex going up in Keller and they are more townhouse and very very expensive. WE DO NOT LIVE IN KELLER. We live in Ft Worth. The zones have been set up for a long time. You cant cry about it now. You should have realized that it was a possibility.
I'm not going to cry about this apartment complex. Why? becuase its not listed to be section 8. There is a difference btw the kind of apartments that the government will pay for out and out. THey will not pay for a 2,000 a month apartment. You may get some lower income in that apartment (just like they have in north dallas) but what that gets you is a percentage off, like 20%...you would still need a lot of income to substantiate that kind of rent.
There is no public transportation, so section 8 is hard pressed to come here, and as far as I'm concerned I hope we never get pub. trasp.
No it wont stop there. You will have lots of apartments esp out by 35 probably jutting from here to the movie theater. Its a fact of life. If you had the money and wanted protection from that then the place to have moved was Trophy club, Southlake or Keller.

I dont think expressing concern about apartments is "crying".

VOWS is right. How do you determine that one is "crying" when talking about apartments? You are very defensive about this for some reason. I do not want apartments around here for many reasons. If you like apartments then go live in one. The only reason I chose to live here was so that my kids could attend the same schools or else I would have moved to Trophy Club. That doesn't mean that I am happy to be living near apartments which will then overcrowd our schools and streets even further.
And I have contacted the city regarding these apartments. Why are you always so quick to judge everyone else and put them down? Everyone is entitled to their own opinion without being attacked for it. This is a message board for people to post their thoughts. That is all I was doing and you have made it a personal issue for some reason.
BTW, Park Glen has Section 8 apartments and there is no public transportation there either, so your statement that "section 8 is hard pressed to come here" does not hold much water.

I understand and whole heartedly agree that apartments aren't a good thing. But what can be done about it. Coming here to "cry" (for a better word, complain, whine, pick one) doesn't seem to do any good. I know Navy has had some constructive things to post as well as some others about what CAN be done about it. My feelings are this. There is a whole lot of land, and its been zoned for multifamily. That means that multi family can and probably will go there. Be grateful that if we HAVE to have multifamily housing in our area that its NOT section 8 being planned, but an expensive complex with awesome amenities. (i thought, tho i could be wrong that park glen fought off the section 8 apartments.)
Like others have said, at this time I would be more concerned with what isn't annexed across the street on Keller hicks and other areas. They can literally build anything they want in some of those area's without permission.
Apartments are coming, just cross our fingers and hope they are good ones. Call Sal, vote on good (with your mind not your heart) people to lead our advisory committee's, and get involved with the process that you CAN take to prevent bad things from entering our community. I say this tho...pick your battles wisely. You can not fight it all, or things will start to fall on deaf ears. That complex wouldn't be on my list of fights. I would start with street concerns and work your way up from there. JMHO.

dig, It's obvious that you don't understand the HOA and this community. The HOA is the builder. There is no getting rid of the developer. There is no homeowner representation on the HOA. How would you propose getting rid of the developer? Why would that be to your advantage?

Bladder (aka Dig.) - I am seriously not understanding your posting about the VOWS website. First off, it seems your posts are the most negative on there - not other posts- that is before you edit them or delete them to change what you initially posted. I've been on the VOWS site for quite some time, even visited the site before I bought my house, and do not see where you are coming from. And, Nazi's?!?! Come on now...get a grip on reality, the moderators are the furthest thing from being Nazis - they are maintaining the website keeping it free from obscenities, inappropriate postings and personal attacks. By calling them Nazi's, even on this website, you are attacking them. As for the horny housewives comment - oh boy, where to start???... this is not Desperate Housewives. Where in the world did you get this impression from the website?! Now, I am not intending to insult you or criticize you in any way, shape, or form... I'm just trying to understand why you feel so terribly about our community and the website. If you are truly that unhappy then why not look elsewhere?

digereedoo , hmmmmmmm...... Hopefully he will be banned soon from VOWS so we dint have to read this stuff there, so prospective homeowners do not see his hatefulness there. Are you a grown up? I'm sure the moment NFL see's this he will take care of it. NO one on here has used pseudo profanities on this website yet, and I'm sure it wont be tolerated. It does open up some insight on the type of person who would post such childish nonsense. I suggest you delve deeper into how our community is run, and realize quickly that its not the homeowners that govern things. It will be years before we are allowed to take over the association. Like Koukla, I too checked out VOWS website before moving here (as did nflguy i believe) and if anything it made moving here even more enticing. Its a great means of communication! Good luck and errr welcome to the community?

I have been steering clear of this site because of all the inuendos that have been going on. I also told the site administrator that if I ever choose to post again, I would use my real name and register. I personally am not thrilled with the apartment situation, but simply because you live in an apartment, does not mean you are less of a contributing member of society. Some people live there as a choice, they don't want a lawn, any upkeep and are perfectly content not to own a home. I think the problem I am most worried about is the anti-Woodland Springs people who live here and do nothing but complain. If you are unhappy, and folks, I can see you are......then do something. By that, I mean something other than sit on the computer and denagrate everyone else. The HOA will be having a meeting, will you be there? They are accepting people for new positions, will you add your name? Please don't tell me it will not change, I don't believe or accept that answer, it is a cop out. This is a good neighborhood that is experiancing some growing pains.. You are either part of the problem or you are part of the solution....pick a side. PS. I was Helltotheno...anyone else want to come out and play?

I agree completely with you rbprovo!! People, complaining about something is not going to make it go away, your choices are simple - do something about it (join a committee or the AC, attend meetings, etc) or look for a place where you will be happier. Don't try to bring down the rest of the community, or those who are prospective neighbors. I love it here and all my neighbors - We truly have a great community... let's work together to keep it that way! PS. I was koukla

I went to this link and you have to ask permission from the Moderator to join this group?!?!? So basically, whoever the Moderator is, if he/she doesn't like you, you can be denied access?!!?!? Talk about rediculous!
