Anyone know about this? It is mentioned in the developer's support letter for the fall festival on the other website. Questions about it are being ignored on the other website. Maybe we can figure this out over here. Foundations just don't materialize over night. I wonder if Mehrdad would support more of these foundations or if this one in particular is going to be singled out. Is he using his own money or ours to support it? Hopefully, it is a good thing and it will allow good things to continue to happen for our community, but it would be nice to know how it came about and who owns it, how it will benefit us and who will be monitoring it.

I did just notice (from the other website) that it looks like Pauline Veness is in charge of it...

Im not sure if shes in charge of it or just has the info we want. Dave suggested a few posters give her a call. I hope they just post whatever info they have for everyone to see.

I don't think they will do that. Every time you ask them about what they are involved in, they just say to give them a call. What if everyone wants to know? Do we post it on the website?

from the main board....
The Villages of Woodland Springs Foundation is a community organization registered by Pauline Veness to serve small community needs. It is solely funded by donations and contributions, especially the hard work of volunteers. The foundation anticipates receiving a non-profit status given that the foundation wishes to develop educational, arts and cultural, health and community awareness in VOWS.

So, it appears the Woodland Springs Foundation is "replacing" the AC...

So, it appears the Woodland Springs Foundation is "replacing" the AC... That's quite a stretch - "educational, arts and cultural, health and community awareness in VOWS." How is this even remotely connected to what the AC did?

from the woodlandsprings.com website "These projects may include:
Fall Festival 2005 and other positive neighborly events for the future
Continuation of the new homeowner welcome program with a new design (a dream of current volunteer - Robin Earp)
Development and Publication of a quarterly newsletter or magazine
Design and collaboration of a community resource guide and directory
Website front page article submissions from local resources"
...it just seems this Foundation is picking up a lot of projects once, seemingly, spearheaded by the members of the AC.

So the Foundation is taking on some of the volunteer activities of the old AC. I didn't see those as the main function of the AC, which was to advise the HOA Board as representatives of the homeowners.
I guess I don't understand what you were trying to say with the "replacing" comment.

I guess I just don't understand this... Why is it called the "Woodland Springs" Foundation if homeowners are not in the know and do not have a say about it? The name makes it sound like the entire community is backing this up. Maybe it should be called the Pauline Veness Foundation. I appreciate all of her efforts, but if she is going to represent herself with our name, we should be in the know.

With over 2200 occupied home in VOWS, what monetary amount do you believe will cover the event (food and entertainment) for this many homeowners and their families?

Pauline posted that her foundation is funded soley through donations and volunteer work. Im satisfied with that and now believe our funds are not being used in part for the fall festival. Unless some new information comes to light, i suggest we give her the benefit of the doubt on this.
However, feel free to post your thoughts even if they dont align with my own.
