It says in the donations thread on the other site they are "application pending" hmmmmm If an application is "pending" how can one claim it to be already in existance. Would it not evolve into existance once given approval? hmmmm

It says in the donations thread on the other site they are "application pending" hmmmmm Life Cycle of Private Foundations www.irs.gov/charities/charitable/article/0,,id=127912,00.html For pending applications the IRS states " www.irs.gov/charities/foundations/article/0,,id=141258,00.html" Although the most interesting statement was "[glow=red,2,300]Like other exempt organization annual returns, a return filed while an application is pending is subject to public disclosure[/glow]." Private Foundations - Substantiation and Disclosure of Charitable Contributions www.irs.gov/charities/foundations/article/0,,id=141417,00.html Most interesting statement "[glow=red,2,300]While many private foundations do not engage in fundraising activities, some do solicit contributions[/glow]" Public Disclosure FAQ # 4 www.irs.gov/charities/article/0,,id=135011,00.html "[glow=red,2,300]A private foundation must also make its exemption application, supporting documents, and letters sent from the IRS available for public inspection during regular business hours at the private foundation's principal office; and, if the organization regularly maintains one or more regional or district offices having three or more employees, then the application must be made available for public inspection at each of these offices also[/glow]." Or does this also fall under deletion or non-answer?

I am a bit confused......as I said, I don't object to the giving, it is the method that I find a little questionable.

What is the problem with the Fall Festival?
Does this community not want to have one of the largest block parties in Fort Worth?
How do you expect to feed and entertain 2300 households for a $3000 contribution without other generous contributions from other individuals and businesses?
What would you recommend this community contribute to have or spend if you were feeding and entertaining this many families?
Right now, it is $1.31 per household, not individual but Household. I would challenge anyone to match the efforts of this volunteer group. Join the effort and participate.
What a shame to read these complaints and suspicions about a community celebration and its volunteers!
Is your family attending this event?
Let's step into the real world! We are all neighbors here in VOWS.

To Whom it May Concern,
I am requesting a public written apology for the statements made by Trina Kovar and reaffirmed by navy85(4stamps) on this thread, on this web site.
Ms. Kovar states that I, Colleen Demel, had an appointment with her scheduled for the day and time of our "meeting". This is false. I walked in on her.
Ms. Kovar also states that she did not tell me to contact Pauline Veness with my concerns surrounding the Villages of Woodland Springs Foundation. This is false.
I will legally be able to prove that these statements are false, defaming and slanderous.
Sincerely, Colleen Demel Homeowner

wow...now I don't want to get anyone madder than they already are but what difference does it make. I know nothing about the situation other than what has been posted, but where was the harm done....I have NO AFFILIATIONS with anyone on this website or the other website for that matter, so explain to me why it is slanderous.....let alone defaming. I am simply asking why how you two came to meet one day is significant?

We are all neighbors here in VOWS. Why does this community need to have one of the largest block parties in Fort Worth? Why can we not be content to celebrate within the constraints of our budget, or not at all - given that we are a relatively new community, and our budget is small? Why does this community need two non-profit organizations (our HOA is set up as a non-profit corporation, as well as the apparently soon-to-be Woodland Springs Foundation) working towards "community enrichment"? Why does it feel like "we" have something to prove?

"That is what scares me a bit about the "Woodland Springs Foundation" -- the accountability factor."
Agreed.

New - This community is five years old and older in some sections.
I suppose we bought our home in the wrong community - it appears that our neighbors are happy bickering and not celebrating our neighborhood. In our past communities, we looked for reasons to celebrate, not condemn the family spirit of community.
There appears to be neighbors who want only to be hurtful and hateful before they even communicate with the volunteers coordinating this event. Did you wish it to be canceled?
What a shame that this community does not understand celebrations relieve neighborhood tension, especially a community with such growing pains.
Neighbors seem to attack or questions neighbors who volunteer. What is your purpose?
Have any of you posting on this board called and spoken with Pauline?
Her name seems to be mentioned numerous times on this thread, but have you personally spoken with her directly?

Lordy, Lordy, Lordy. What is this High School? I have never seen a bigger bunch of whining babies in my entire life. Are you people adults here or what? People constantly complaining because one group is visiting too much on the website, one group is saying everyone is a bunch of liars. People tattling on each other for not getting HOA approval for little piddly crap. It's the year 2005, go out and buy a self help book on how to get along with your peers or watch Dr. Phil. Or go get a job to give you something more to do than complain. The people that put rocks around their trees, at least they are beautifying their home. People won't tell you whats going on with the AC, maybe your a jerk and they don't want to talk to you. People talking to much back and forth on the website, at least they are making an effort to meet their neighbors. Holy Cow people. Out of the 2000 people in this subdivision, the few complainers have made the entire place look like idiots.

Is the community more concerned with being managed by a perception or being managed and represented by the truth.
If the truth is not what your represented perception is stating, the community will look like more of an 'idiot' that 'we' allowed it to continue, without questioning it.
And in regards to our community functions, if everything is donated, what is the 3K for? I do hope we are not paying someone to 'volunteer' their idea?
Lastly, with all the questions surrounding monies, why don't 'we' ask to see the financials which the law entitles us to see, then we will know exactly whether the few are wrong or correct. Or does it not matter how our dues are spent? Since our dues can be raised 20% per year, I can assure you I care how my money is spent.
