What is the problem with the Fall Festival? Does this community not want to have one of the largest block parties in Fort Worth? How do you expect to feed and entertain 2300 households for a $3000 contribution without other generous contributions from other individuals and businesses? What would you recommend this community contribute to have or spend if you were feeding and entertaining this many families? Right now, it is $1.31 per household, not individual but Household. I would challenge anyone to match the efforts of this volunteer group. Join the effort and participate. What a shame to read these complaints and suspicions about a community celebration and its volunteers! Is your family attending this event? Let's step into the real world! We are all neighbors here in VOWS. Why does this community need to have one of the largest block parties in Fort Worth? Why can we not be content to celebrate within the constraints of our budget, or not at all - given that we are a relatively new community, and our budget is small? Why does this community need two non-profit organizations (our HOA is set up as a non-profit corporation, as well as the apparently soon-to-be Woodland Springs Foundation) working towards "community enrichment"? Why does it feel like "we" have something to prove? Ft.Worth will not care how big our block parties are, although the party animals will all want to move here, and think it is a college party town. Do we really want that? Second, with everything donated why does anyone need to pay for anything, surrounding community wide events. Long term quality homeowners are not going to care that our dues are raised to fund "sponsored, donated" events, but they will care more about the appearance of our neighbhorhood. So with that said, we should worry more about noncompliance and the appearance then worrying about protraying a partiying neighborhood that exceeds their budget to "have the biggest block party in Ft. Worth".

Noone ever said it wasn't for families Where did you get that? That was not the point. What some are saying, why do we need to pay for something that is donated? Why do we need to have the biggest party in Ft. Worth? Why is all this attention focused on parties "family" (for those concerned) and not placed on taking care of our neighborhood appearance? Those were the points. Throwing parties is not going to keep the value up, appearance will definately bring it down.

Who on this thread has volunteered to collect donations?
Who do you believe are paid staff members collecting and coordinating this event?
Since many responses relate to the donations, what have YOU contributed from your business or organization to this event?
What have you collected in the way of food, activities, games, candy, decorations, entertainment or other event needs?
Everybody seems to be focusing on a $3000 contribution for a community-wide event, instead of the positive contribution that everyone will enjoy. This is nuts to think that any community event can run on a budget of $3000 with over 2300 households and another 600 lots under construction, soon to be 5000 homes.
We attended a community event in Southlake this evening. They charged for the food and drinks, but the games and activities were free. They stated that the event cost over $25k and they had about 5,000 people in attendance. We have more residents in this community than they served tonight.
Our property values are affected by many things, including community spirit, physical appearance, school district services and civic atmosphere. No one wants to move into a community in chaos or one that does not have community events and pleasant amenities.
The large communities around us including Hidden Lakes, Park Glen, Heritage, and Fossil Ridge to name a few coordinate and throw community-wide events for their neighborhoods. Families want to move where there is a family friendly wholesome environment to enhance their quality of life and preserve or increase their real estate investment.

The march is to benifit the elementary school, the boy scouts are marching with the American Flag and there's a bounce house. Yeah PARTY ON WAYNE....derrrr. If you dont want a party,do us all a favor and stay home in your dark cloudy little world and leave our fun, family, friends "wild" party to those with some sunshine around them. In other words..."Don't pee on our parade".

I made the comment about being for families because someone made the comment about party animals will want to move here and think it's a college party town.
The majority of the families that live here have children. Our family moved here specifically for that reason. We wanted a family oriented community to raise our children in and that included activities that we could do with other families that have the same thing in mind.
If I would have read these websites before we bought our property, I would have NEVER considered this place. I can't even believe what I read on these websites. There is so much hatred in everyone's tone of writing. I am sure that there are other new families that probably think the same thing. This is not a community of loving families as originally thought. If I didn't know any better, I would think we were living in New York City. At least it's expected there but not in a nice neighborhood like this.
I am not fed up with the way things are run, that happens in all neighborhoods, and wherever there are human beings involved there are going to be mistakes, I am fed up with the attitudes of the us against them mentality. Instead of working together to find a solution all people do is gripe about it and cut other people down.

The community wide events held in Hidden Lakes, Heritage, Park Glen, and Fossil Ridge are coordinated/run by individuals who are ultimately responsible to the homeowners in those subdivions. Woodland Springs' event is not - hence the concern.

Please remember that there are TWO school districts represented here in VOWS and more than one elementary school. I don't believe I have heard anyone against the Fall Festival but what I am hearing loud and clear is that people are seeking accountability. That is only fair.
I love this community but I will not bury my head in the sand and pretend that I live in Mayberry. And, yes I have been volunteering my time and money to this Saturday's events and beyond. And yes, I have personally spoken with Pauline Veness for over 6 hours(!!!) concerning this community. I do not think, nor have I ever said, that Ms. Veness is an evil person. She has contributed so very much to this community. There are very few people like her. Thank you Pauline.
But, what I am saying, is that we need to be informed and respected. When a question is asked we ALL need the answers. Very simple, really. Yes, I do know that no one person has all the answers, but don't scorn and look down on those folks that are wanting to know. Some of these folks are now searching for the correct answers. Our dues can and will most likely be raised and at what point will all of you begin to question where our dues go? It's all about the truth, nothing more, nothing less.
I include my name and always have on these websites. I do not hide behind a "guest" name. If you have a problem with me that's fine and you are entitled to feel that way.
Let's support the festival and the Family Fun Run/Walk. There have been some very busy people who have given so much to these events.
Thanks Colleen Demel

Were you aware not all children in VOWS attend WSES? Are we going to do something for the school they attend? We have no problem collecting donations or giving of our time to WSES or any other school, although many children can not attend WSES; yet they live in VOWS. Also there are kids that attend WSES that do not live in VOWS. Is the point to post everyone's donation, including yours? You keep asking for everyone's. The point is that everyone that can give or wants to does. If the food, entertainment, prizes etc are donated what is there to pay for? That was the question? Again if you ask for the financials you will see exactly how much money VOWS has in the budget for homeowner functions etc... I did my research before asking questions, have you? As the community grows more people pay dues. The homeowner function allowance will increase. Realistically, not everyone in VOWS will be attending this event; but people outside of VOWS will. So am I to understand you? If everyone has fun and people outside of VOWS attend and not everyone inside VOWS attends, it is okay if our dues pay for it? I am not against any vows function I want to be told the truth on how our dues are spent and what they paid for. The utlimate question! If everything is being donated to the VOWS event and Fun Walk, why is money needed, and what did our dues pay for?

It seems to me the same question is asked over and over. It also seems to me the same sentiments are given over and over. This is only my opinion. No one seems to be against the Fall Festival, there seems to be a question about whether it is appropriate for the HOA to sponsor a function and not give accountability to the very people that pay the money. A donation implies that there will be certain level of tax benefits that go along with the act. All people seem to want is to have the "what should be public" records made exactly that, Public. It is not unreasonable to wonder what exactly the money is being used for, nor, just by asking does it imply that you have no neighborhood spirit or that you don't want to participate in the event. The HOA operates without having to answer to anyone, it is a very one-sided system and yes, I knew this when we bought the house. I assume there must be some regulations about what must be made public record, and what information can be disclosed. I am just not sure of what any of those laws or regulations are. The issue is also not whether the people who volunteer are good people. I don't believe that has ever been in question. I appreciate the good works that people do, but there must also be something in it for them, whether that is self-satisfaction, the joy of a job well done or whatever, everybody has a reason for what they do. By saying that, I must once again say, that I mean NO disrespect to the volunteers, it is only my observation. All people want is a bit of accountability, it is a genuine request not meant to disparage or cause discord. Just my rambling thoughts on a Friday morn.

Question: How are the volunteers for the Woodland Springs Foundation able to access my personal information from SBB Management's C3 system? Can SBB Management pass out my personal information to anyone?
Does anyone know if there is a way to "opt-out" of this database?

Right - the names and addresses of the homeowners.

Why is that so important - There are other ways to get your name & address, the volunteers just used that route because it is faster and more convenient. Any idiot can look on the internet and find your name, address and all your neighbors names and addresses and how much you paid for your house too!!
